Welcome back friend of FemmeCon. Have you heard of the intimacy economy? If not, I am here to rectify this. As you know I love a statistic to back myself up and prove myself right so I’m about to inundate you with some.
The sexual wellness market is exploding, projected to grow from USD 49.98 billion in 2024 to USD 92.04 billion by 2032 – driven by increasing openness around sexual health and intimacy. But beyond products, a much bigger shift is happening: the rise of the intimacy economy, where women are actively reshaping how they experience connection, pleasure and relationships on their own terms.
Women are rejecting outdated dating norms, prioritising their own desires and demanding experiences that go beyond the traditional. Whether it’s luxury male escort services designed for women, alternative relationship structures like polyamory, or sex-positive education, the intimacy economy is growing in response to what women actually want.
This is exactly what our upcoming event, A Feminine Affair, will explore – redefining modern dating dynamics and exploring the intimacy economy through the lens of female choice, agency and autonomy. The below women are leading the charge and we are fortunate to have them sharing their words of wisdom with us on the 28th February.
The Female-Led Intimacy Economy in Action
- Anna Grosman – Founder of Her Confidant, Australia’s first elite escort service designed exclusively for women where women control their intimate encounters without the emotional labour of modern dating
- Madelene Kadziela – Founder of Nocturnal, a high-end, curated play party brand that creates safe, sophisticated spaces for erotic exploration
- Stace Garland – Co-founder of Under the Sheets, an online intimacy academy, that teaches people how to have good sex – physically, emotionally, and mentally
- Laura Lee – Sexologist and leading advocate for ethical non-monogamy and polyamory
- Laura Roscioli – Melbourne-based sex, love & dating columnist whose work has gone viral in Vice, Refinery29, The Age, Harper’s Bazaar & more, making conversations around “the things we don’t say” accessible
- Sera Bozza – Evidence-based dating coach, Tinder’s go-to dating expert, and founder of Sideswiped, a direct, no-BS coaching platform helping people take risks and build real connections
The intimacy economy is booming because of women and here’s why:
- Women control 80% of consumer spending
- Women Projected to Control Two-Thirds of Discretionary Spending by 2028
- Women Now Control 40% of Global Wealth
- Female Millionaires Growing at Nearly Double the Rate of Men in Australia
- Women Own One-Third of Australia’s Small Business
- 45% of women aged 25-44 will be single and child-free by choice come 2030
Women are choosing alternative relationships (or none at all), high-end intimacy services are replacing bad dating experiences and pleasure and sensuality are now mainstream – and big business and in the process, we are driving the intimacy economy. Fascinating stuff right?

Welcome friend of FemmeCon, thank you for being here. And welcome to the first FemmeCon ‘weekly Column’ where I share some musings, community updates, podcast snippets and of course, what events we have coming up.
I’ve been meaning to do this for a while but [insert list of excuses] – time, my other business, attempting some form of work/life balance but ultimately it didn’t happen because it wasn’t considered ‘urgent’ in the grand scheme of things. But this year, Ive decided to prioritise the direction I want my life to take and the things i ultimately want to be doing and being more active and involved with FemmeCon is definitely one of them, spending more time sharing what’s happening behind the scenes, hopefully some of our goals and the direction we want to go and how it all benefits you.
At the core of every decision we ever make should always be ‘what’s in it for me’.
The hiatus I took towards the end of last year as I needed to regroup and to sit with FemmeCon, the premise behind it and what I wanted to do with it. Much has changed within the community over the last couple of years and the new diection needed to reflect that change. And I think that while the initial vision of ‘inspiring women to embrace their full force feminine power’ appeal to my love for alliteration and the use of the word ‘power’, it didn’t encapsulate in one succinct tagline what this community is about. Whereas this one does. In three words we are able to communicate really clearly what we want to achieve, who it might appeal to and what type of content we’ll be creating in the future.
Redefining Modern Womanhood
I want Femmecon to be a movement that empowers women to reclaim their autonomy and redefine societal norms. At its heart we are about choice, agency and priortising what truly serves women’s happiness and evolution as we create the future state for women.
In my humble opinion there is still too much chatter how women are the inferior sex, that we are victims to society and the patriarchy. I don’t agree. Let me share a few statistics with you that might help ease your mind if you do still feel like you’re getting the short end of the stick.
- Women control 80% of the household spend
- By 2034 Women are about to inherit 65% of the nearly $5 trillion in wealth due to pass from Baby Boomers and their parents to the next generation – us
- More female millionaires are being created than men at a rate of 5.7% compared to their 3.6%
- The number of female entrepreneurs is growing three times faster than their male counterparts, and women now own one-third of Australia’s small businesses
- 45% of women aged 25-44 will be single and child free by choice come 2030
- Women control the birth rate which is basically the key to humanity and we are choosing to have less children or none at all
We really are in the most powerful position we’ve ever been in. We can start businesses, create multiple income streams, travel the world, buy properties, build our own wealth, have children on our own (or with a partner), volunteer, start charities and build communities. There is nothing essentially stopping us. Where there is a will, there is a way. We have agency, we have choice and we have autonomy. And if you feel like you don’t, this is definitely where you need to be.
Women live longer and are becoming wealthier than men. They are choosing to be single so they can pursue careers, start businesses, travel the world and live lifestyles more in accordance with what they want to be doing, rather than the role society has placed on them since millennia.
Women are going to be in the driver’s seat within the next five years and it’s time to get on board. They are the ones to watch, they are the ones to back because they are the ones who are going to be in power.
At FemmeCon, we believe women’s choices should reflect who we truly are—not who society expects us to be. We are the leading brand in Australia for empowering women over 30 to create lives and relationships that serve our greatest interests. Through our events, podcast and community, we are shaping the future state of women.
Femmecon is the movement which is redefining modern womanhood.
Our Vision: To challenge traditional narratives and shape a Future State for Women: a world where modern womanhood is defined by autonomy, agency and choice for women.
Our Why
Femmecon is a movement that empowers women aged 30+ to reclaim their autonomy and redefine societal norms. At its heart we are about choice, agency and priortising what truly serves women’s happiness and evolution as we create the future state for women.
Our vision is to challenge traditional narratives and shape a Future State for Women: a world where modern womanhood is defined by autonomy, agency and choice for women.
In terms of our audience we attract:
- Women Aged 30+ who are at a crossroads:
- This is the age when many women begin questioning traditional paths (e.g., marriage, societal roles) and explore what brings true contentment.
- We cater to these women by offering content and events that validate and empower their decisions, whether in love, career, or personal growth.
- Love & Relationships as a Catalyst for Agency:
- We frame love and relationships as tools for self-discovery and empowerment, not just as life milestones. It gives women permission to ask, “What do Ireally want?” and act on that rather than ‘what does society expect of me’?
- Modernising Expectations:
- We challenge outdated ideas of what women “should” do in their 30s and beyond, positioning itself as a bold advocate for self-prioritisation in a world that often expects women to compromise and put everyone’s needs above her own.
And so our events, podcast and content will be about this – exploring alternative paths and choices women have made. We want to discuss:
- The modern evolving roles of women
- That the traditional route of becoming solely women an mothers do not serve us
- Reinvetion and what it looks like when you decide that you want more from life
- Purpose, identity and confidence to be the woman you were born to be
- Becoming financially cliterate and learning how to fund your lifestyle so you aren’t reliant or dependent on anyone else
So each week we will be exploring what happens when women make the uncommon choice: the career no one expected, the unorthodox relationship, the decision to live child-free, and how they’ve rewritten their script entirely.
And of course this ties in very nicely to our upcoming event which is our annual Valentine’s Day lunch – A Feminine Affair, Galentine’s Day edition. The theme is ‘Redefining Love, Dating, and Pleasure for Modern Women’ with our remit to hold a bold and exciting event that celebrates women embracing alternative approaches to love, dating, and relationships. We’ll dive deep into modern, non-traditional dynamics through a series of compelling discussions – from dating yourself to sexual exploration, where we hope to empower women to prioritise their desires and pleasure.
Going forward, we will be discussing this future state for women,
